A short story about us
Why We Became a Nonprofit: We saw how one small, repeatable habit changed real lives — and knew it needed to reach further than a bookshelf. One Word To BeeBetter exists to turn that idea into programs, mentorship, and community for the people who need it most: young adults stepping into independence, and professionals and entrepreneurs building their next chapter.
In his early twenties, our founder Peter Bradford was asked a simple question by one of his first bosses: "How are you?" He gave the standard answer — "Good." Rather than accept it, his boss pushed back: "What would it take to be great?" That single exchange changed the trajectory of his life. Peter replaced "good" with "great," and over time, that one word reshaped his mindset, his relationships, and his career. He later taught the same practice to his daughter, Emma, and watched it transform her life too.
When Peter shared the idea with his friend and co-author Lynette Sharpe, she chose "buzzing" as her word — and experienced the same shift. Together with Sarah Lanarch, they wrote it all down in One Word To BeeBetter, turning a personal habit into a resource for people everywhere.
Today, BeeBetter focuses on supporting adults struggling with ADHD-related executive dysfunction, often described as “failure to launch.” People who know they’re capable, but can’t seem to get started or stay consistent.
